The Christmas Rose blooms December 19-21
Skylark’s 5th annual holiday production brings Frank Bridge’s radiant Nativity opera to life. Presented in concert with the glorious forces of soloists, full orchestra and chorus, the story unfolds with warmth and wonder. Artistic Director James Barnett directs stellar singers Bergen Baker, Siena Forest, Brian Frutiger (Skylark debut), Alex Ritchie, and Jeremiah Sanders in a moving musical journey of shepherds who witness angels proclaiming the birth of the Christ Child. The spirited children Miriam and Reuben secretly join them on their sojourn to Bethlehem.
This enchanting one-hour performance is the perfect way for families to welcome Christmas week, with beautiful singing, luminous choral harmonies, and the thrill of live orchestral color. Stay tuned for ticket announcements on email, on our website, and across social media—you won’t want to miss it!
A big Thank You for OktOperaFest
A warm thank you to everyone who came out for Skylark's music-filled celebration of Johann Strauss, Jr’s 200th birthday. Soprano Julia Engel and tenor David Walton provided dazzling vocals, with James Barnett and Mary Jo Gothmann delivering musical frolics on the piano. Glorious music, laughter, food, great beer, and giveaways added up to an evening of FUN. Here's a taste:
